Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.
Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.
You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

Kelly Hassel Cramer
Professor Kelly is a third-degree black belt under Charles Gracie and co-founder of Symmetry Jiu-Jitsu in Sparks, Nevada. Kelly began her Jiu-Jitsu journey at the age of 40, proving that it's never too late to start. Her experience and dedication are a testament to the transformative power of martial arts, especially for women seeking strength, confidence, and a sense of community. Kelly also enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including backcountry running, hiking, paddle-boarding, surfing, gardening, and traveling. Her love for the outdoors and Jiu-Jitsu, reflects her holistic approach to life and fitness. In addition to her Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructing she has 25+ Years Coaching Experience with Behavior Modification, Therapeutic Rec, Sports Competition, along with Self-Defense Training, Crossfit Level 1 Cert., Crossfit Olympic Lifting Cert. and Pose Running Cert.
Tonya Swanson
Tonya Swanson is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown belt with ten years of experience under Professor Jason Swanson. She began training at the age of 44 as a way to be more physically active and learn self defense. She has been instructing kids BJJ program for UFC Gym since 2022 and is the co-owner at Evolution Martial Arts Academy. She is also a certified personal trainer and specializes in youth programs. Her favorite thing about BJJ is the community. She has a passion for growing that community.
