Rosa Walsh-McCann
Top Irish prospect Rosa Walsh has just been awarded her BJJ black belt by the reigning ADCC world champion Ffion Davies, becoming the first person to be promoted under Davies. Walsh has been a popular and prolific competitor all across the UK for quite some time, and has been branching out even further. She actually got one of her biggest tournament wins just a matter of days before Davies won ADCC 2022 in fact, as Walsh competed in the ADCC Open at the same event.
Walsh put in a great performance and managed to win the under 65kg division against some incredibly tough opposition like Helena Crevar and Nathalie Ribeiro. That win was a real defining moment and it appeared that Walsh was ready for the highest level of competition possible. It led to a great opportunity back in the UK as well, as she was given the opportunity to compete for the Grapplefest under 70kgs title. Walsh continued her fine run of form at that event and made another big statement, as she claimed the title with a submission win over Gabi Schuck. Now that Walsh is a BJJ black belt, it’ll be interesting to see what else she’s able to achieve on the competition mats moving forward.
Walsh now stands as the youngest female Irish BJJ black belt ever, at just 25-years old, as well as setting a record for being the first female black belt from Cork, and being the 6th female Irish-born BJJ black belt ever.
Walsh has lots of accomplishments under her belt at every rank, winning the ADCC Open Pro division in Las Vegas via three arm bar submissions, tapping black belt world champion Nathalie Ribeiro last year.
The new black belt also won: the gold at PanAms making her the 2022 Middleweight No-Gi Brown Belt Champion, she was titled the Grapplefest -70kg Champion, and she also won bronze at the 2022 IBJJF European Championships at brown belt.
Similar to Davies, Walsh has strong pressure and an expert takedown game, making for exciting matches irrespective of the ruleset.
One thing is for certain, if you haven’t heard of Rosa Walsh yet, you will hear of her soon.

In 2020, she won the gold medal at the IBJJF European Championship in the Female Purple Belt Master 1 category. Silvia regularly competes in top-tier events, including the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and the AJP Tour, where she consistently showcases her elite skills.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Silvia co-owns Jungle BJJ Dublin, where she plays a crucial role in training and mentoring other athletes. Gabriele Schuck
Gabriele Schuck, a consummate Professional BJJ Fighter and Black Belt. Her accolades include a plethora of Gold and Silver medals garnered from numerous Professional BJJ and Grappling competitions across the UK and Europe. Regularly sponsored by industry giants for her formidable skills, Gabriele's prowess is undeniable. However, off the mats, she exudes a remarkable shyness, which contrasts her dedicated and friendly nature. When it comes to assisting others, Gabriele's seriousness and friendliness intertwine seamlessly, making her an invaluable asset to our community.
