Thiago Mendes
Thiago’s father was a decorated member of the Brazilian Marine Corps, and searched for a solution for Thiago’s behavioral problems in school and at home. Trying out karate and judo first, Thiago didn’t find an outlet for his behavior until he tried Jiu Jitsu.
He started training Jiu Jitsu in 2002 on the former team, “Gama Filho” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thiago achieved his dream of receiving his black belt in January of 2014. In the same year, he moved to Dubai where he worked for three years with United Arab Emirates Army, teaching Jiu Jitsu for the National Emirati Service.
Thiago traveled and trained in different countries with different cultures. After several years of teaching Jiu Jitsu for another gym owner here in the U.S, he knew he ultimately wanted to run a gym of his own.
Professor Thiago Mendes, 35 years old. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Proud American Citizen.
